Visit to Dallas... Part 2

Next up... The Texas State Fair. Lots of fun was had. We had the original corn dog (yum yum), rode lots of rides, and saw lots of stuff. The kids loved the petting zoo and the spinning ride with Daddy. We also rode the log ride all together and got splashed. They loved that. And, they came out giggling like crazy from the Bubble House.

Daddy and Will rode in one end of the big boat. Ella insisted on riding the at the opposite end. She had a blast.

Vist to Dallas.. Part 1

We headed to Dallas this weekend to see Mamaw and Grandpa. We also had several things planned while we were there. First, we went up to Mamaw's old office to see some wonderful ladies that Brian has known since he was little. We toured around the building and had a great visit.

Will's New Bed

Will's room is in transition right now. It was finally time to get rid of our fabulous crib/toddler bed. Sniff Sniff. Our babies have grown up. Will got a pretty cool low bunk bed. We are still doing some modifications, but he is already loving it. Ella had a sleepover.

Finally... Beautiful Weather

The weather turned absolutely beautiful. We can finally be outdoors again. So, we headed to City Centre to eat and hang out with the Hatchers. It was a bit crowded, but we had a great time.

Funny Story

Today Will got in the car and immediately said, "Mom, we do NOT drink from the toilet. That is SO yucky!"

My stomach dropped. I said, "That's right we do not drink, touch or do anything with toilet water. Did you do something with toilet water?"

Will, "No. Lilly drank toilet water."

I was grossed out, but I continued questioning and drilling in that we do not. He seemed to understand.

When we picked up Ella at school, Will told her the story and she about threw up and then began to giggle when she was sure that Will did not.

That night we were all in the living room. Ella and I were playing Connect Four. Daddy was watching the Rangers (the usual), and Will was just being silly (the usual). I said, "Will, tell Daddy what happened at school." He told him and Brian had the exact reaction I did. Brian was grossed out and began questioning him the same way that I did. Then, I said, "Will, you don't want to drink out of the toilet because then the girls won't want to kiss you." Daddy agreed and reiterated that point... "If you drink toilet water, the girls will definitely not want to kiss you." Then, Ella under her breath said...

"Well, Lilly might."

We have and old time barber shop right near the house. It's an old time shop that was bought by someone a few years ago and updated in only in a few areas. They still offer all of the old time services, but they offer the ability to book online etc. I thought it was time to move away from the little kid hair place. So, Will and I headed to Kirby's Barber Shop. Will loved it. I definitely think it's a place that Brian will start to take him, but we had to get his hair cut for school pictures.

This year we were a part of the Inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix. I was not so good at taking pictures, but we had a great time. I have not been back since we moved from there. So, it was really fun to see the old neighborhood. It actually made me miss it. I miss all of the walking so much. That was one thing I loved about living there. We would go for days and not even move the car. Also, I have never even been to a car race. It was a fun experience. We hung out with Mitch and Jen Poindexter a laughed a lot. We also got to visit with Steve and Lynn Nash and meet their fabulous children.

Will's First Day at the Yellow School

Will changed school this year to the Yellow School. It's still with Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, but they change to this school for the 3's class and up. He was so excited. He had his eye on this playground all last year. He couldn't wait to go to the 'big kid school'.

Bumped into his friend Hannah from last year. She's in his class, and Will is so glad.

Ella got Queen for the Day. Ms. Jackson gives each of them a day. They get to learn all about the person of the day and draw a picture and write about why they like that person. The Queen or King comes home with a very special book made up of the pages made by their classmates.

After Blue Bell we headed to Lake Travis to unpack and meet up with the Kriendlers and Grabbes. The kids were so ready to get out on the boat. We went out to eat on the lake and swam in the lake after dinner.

We headed to Austin today for our annual Lake Travis trip. However, we were able to get out of town early and surprise the kids with a trip to Blue Bell.

First, we stopped for some yummy barbecue.in Chappell Hill. Ella loved it. Sausage, green beans and buttered roll. What else could you ask for?

The normal joy of eating out with Will. He did eat decent, but then he discovered pickles. He decided he wanted more of those. He's very strange about food.

This is natural PURE JOY for all 3 of my children. They were very excited.

The tour was great. Then, we were treated to a free scoop of ice cream. Ella ordered mint chocolate chip. Will got vanilla. Brian got buttered pecan. And, I got a seasonal special.. homeade vanilla with fresh Texas peaches. Mine was FABULOUS! Brian agreed.

This week Ella did the Theatre Under the Stars camp. She did it with her friend Madie again. They performed the Lion King and had a blast.

Our Day at the Aquarium

It was unbelievably hot, but I had promised the kids a trip to the aquarium. The Houston aquarium really is mostly a restaurant. So, there's not a lot inside, but the outside is like a carnival. The kids loved the carousel and ferris wheel. Mommy was scared to death on the ferris wheel, but I survived. We also brought the kids swimsuits to play in the water fountain. They had a blast.

Weekend with Daddy

For Mother's Day this year, Brian and some friends gave some of us lucky Mommies a day at a spa in Austin. Brian is such an amazing Daddy. He really made the most of the weekend with them by taking them to the beach. Mitch and Jennifer offered their lovely condo at Diamond Beach to him and the kids. The kids had a BLAST!

VBS

This year we participated in VBS at Memorial Drive Presbyterian. Will was able to go as long as I volunteered. I was more than willing as it was such a great group of ladies that put it together. I was assigned in the 'Play' area of the set-up. I helped with the 'Gross & Gooey' station. This is always a big hit. It was really a lot of fun.

End of a Week with 4 Kids

Pottery Painting

The Schwertner girls really wanted to paint pottery when we got back to Houston. On Saturday we left the boys at home and headed to paint some pottery. The girls had a blast and were so incredibly creative. I love be able to have this time with them. They are all still so innocent, and I love to listen to there conversations. Precious.

There's a new waterpark in Bay St. Louis. The kids just had to check it out. We got their right after it opened and were in and out all day until close at 8pm. It was the perfect size for me with 4 kids. It has two waterslides, lazy river, little kids play area and free putt putt golf. We had lots of fun. Of course, Will had little to no interest in the little kids play area. He wants to swim, swim and swim some more.

Brian, Scott and Kristen left this morning, and Mom needed to work. So, I let the kids chose between the beach and the pool. They chose the pool. So away we went.

They had so much fun at Donna and Greg's. They come up with all kinds of crazy things to do. And, Will has turned into such a little fish.

And to my favorite picture of the weekend. It's not the clearest, but it means the most. We had a heck of a time getting this house done, but it did get finished. And, this is what it's all about. It was built to be a place that could fit everyone. It definitely does that, and it feels so comfortable.

The final excitement of the day was Ella losing her other top tooth.

Fourth of July at the Beach

We headed to the beach with the kids for the 4th. First, we stopped at Steve's Marina for some yummy lunch. It was on the beach before Katrina. After the storm they relocated for a few years in Gulfport, but they just moved back. It was a wonderful surprise to us. It was a favorite of Mr. Buddy's. He would have loved that they are back on the water.

Kate... my goddaughter who is my handful of sweetness. I love that I am closer to her now and able to see her grow up. Her and Ella are the same age but such different children in so many wonderful ways.

As usual, Will was just crazy. He just kept doing flips in the ocean. NO FEAR!

We headed down to Mema's for some July 4th fun. The Schwertners came with us too. We had so much fun. Our first day was the boat parade and neighborhood fun.

The Rangers were town to play the Astros. So, the Davison family had to load up and head to the ball field. I knew Will really needed a nap today since we'd be up late, but he didn't agree. So on the way to the game we looked in the back and saw this...

Concan 2011

This was our second trip to Concan with a big group of friends. There were 16 adults and 18 kids. While the trip is a lot of work to get ready for I think we're getting better at it.The kids have an absolute blast, and the adults have a blast too.

It was mighty hot this year. So, the river felt very nice.

Also, the kids had freeze dance parties every night before bed. Ella is still talking about how fun that was.

Brian's 39th Birthday

A few weeks before Brian's birthday we were at a tailor's getting him fitted for come custom shirts.We purchased the package at this year's school auction. The nice man who owned the shop had obviously done this for a long time. He guessed Brian's height and weight almost exactly. Then, the young man who worked for him suggested that he should work for the carnival. We laughed. Then, Brian laughingly said he should go for the trifecta and guess his age. The gentlman said, "38". Brian told him that was pretty good as he was about to turn 38 in a couple of weeks. I kept my mouth shut. A few minutes later I called Brian over to where I was standing with the kids and explained that he was 38 and about to turn 39. His perplexed face was priceless. Yes, I was right. He was about to turn 39.

For Brian's birthday this year we headed out to Lupe's for some fajitas and margaritas with the Poindexter's. The kids had fun in the sandbox. After lunch we went back to the house for Brian's favorite cake that we made for him. And he was very surprised by his present this year... an Apple iPad.

A Weekend Guest

Ella was delighted to come home from her last day of school to find out that we were going to have a weekend guest. She was going to get to help take care of Caden. Caden is the extremely smart chocolate lab of our friends Misty and Chad. Ella was so happy and had so many plans for her and Caden. She usually makes these plans but most dogs do not play along with Ella so much. Caden was awesome though. Ella woke up bright and early every morning and took Caden out to catch the ball. Like most labs Caden is obsessed with the ball. So, Ella was her best friend.

Brian was out of town when Caden came over. He told me not to let the dog in the pool as she probably wouldn't get out... leave to much hair... blah blah blah. As you can tell, I didn't listen. However, I wasn't too bad. I let her in just a couple of times. Ella taught Caden to drop the ball in the pool to her, and she would throw it out in the yard for Caden to retrieve. They both loved the game.

The next afternoon when I got home I walked outside to find this while Brian and Will were in the pool...

I asked Brian why Caden was in the pool. He said that she must have 'fallen in'. Ha. She was so happy.

Will got out of the pool. Before I knew it, he was naked... again. Ugh. The funny thing was he was playing fetch with Caden. Caden did not mind at all that he was naked as long as he kept throwing the ball!

Teacher Gifts

I found some great teacher gift ideas on blogs this year. So, Ella and I picked some out to do. We made Ms. Perry a basket with some cute ones. She also got a big gift card that the whole class contributed too.

We also put these together with Starbucks giftcards for all the other wonderful people that are special to Ella.... librarian, music teacher, art teacher, office ladies, etc. They came out so cute.

Will's Tonsil Surgery

Today Will had his tonsils and adenoids removed. Mommy was a nervous wreck. I know it was routine surgery, but it's still so hard on a parent. On the way in we decided not to get everything for the stay. Brian was going to go to the car later for the suitcase. Will looked a little hesitant as he wasn't sure what was going on. I asked Will if he wanted to take one of his friends (aka stuffed animals) in. He immediately pointed to Daddy. He's such a sweet little mane.

Will did have a blast in the waiting room

Everything went well in the surgery. Dr. Brauchle said that tonsils were even bigger than he thought. We did have issues coming out of anesthesia and lots of nausea and stomach issues It's a good thing that he had planned for us to spend the night. We felt a lot more comfortable since things weren't going great.

Will's Last Day of School

Today was Will's last day of school. He finishes at MDPC Children's Day Inn (CDI) and moves on to the Yellow School next year. We had a wonderful experience at CDI. Here he is taking one last picture with Ms. Shannon and Ms. Chris.

Softball season is now over, and we finished in second place. The girls did great and showed so much improvement. We are very proud of them. We had such a great time. Tonight we had our party complete with pizza, cake, ice cream and trophies.

Today we had a softball game. I had a baby shower. And, we had our first party that we bought at auction, Gourmet in the Garden. Busy but a very fun day.

Next up.. the baby shower. 25 years ago we were inseparable. We were absolutely inseparable and were both devastated when I moved away. Since then we've reconnected. This is Christina and I at her baby shower. She will be having a baby boy in a few weeks, and I can't wait to meet him.

I didn't get any pictures at the party in the evening, but it was so much fun. It was at a beautiful home, and we met so many new people from BHE. The food was done by the Keelings, and it was fabulous.

A Day with Family

This weekend Uncle Harry, Aunt Joanne and Christian came to visit. We had so much fun with them. I checked Ella out of school early on Friday. We headed to the Space Center and Kemah. The kids LOVE Christian and has so much fun with him.

I love when the kids get back into some of the old basic toys. Ella has loved these magnets since preschool. Every once in a while she gets back into them and creates another masterpiece.

This weekend we were lucky enough to babysit two precious pups. We had Mugsy and Jack. They are the boxers of Mitch and Jennifer Poindexter. We really enjoyed having them here.

Ella Lost Her First Tooth

Ella's tooth has been lose for weeks. The dentist told her a few weeks ago that she really needed to work on it and she has. I went to school today to eat lunch with Ella. I made her pull on some fries in the front. She got it really good once. So, I convinced her to go see the nurse on our way back, because she wouldn't let me near it. It was hanging. The nurse pulled it out with floss. She was a little scared, but she handled it pretty well.The new teeth are actually coming in behind the bottom two. So, we are very anxious to get those out so that the new teeth can move into place.

It was a little rough getting back into the swing of things after Spring Break, but the kids were very ready to get back to their teachers and friends. Unfortunately Ella came down with a stomach virus on Thursday. She missed school on Friday and her first softball game on Saturday. It was pretty rough and took her a while to get back to herself.

As most Mommies know with these things you are running around like crazy.. taking care of the sick and cleaning constantly. While I was running back and forth in the house the little man was actually entertaining himself. He was still in his PJs, but when I walked into the living room I saw this...

Spring Break #6

We headed to the park this morning. We have been very lucky this week. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous. We have spent a lot of time outside, and the kids have actually gotten along pretty well.

In the late afternoon we went to Baby Reese's 1st birthday party. The kids had a great time, and Reese especially loved her cake.

Spring Break #5 - St. Patty's Day

We headed to the zoo today. To say the least, it was absolute chaos. We lasted barely 3 hours and it felt like 3 days. the kids had fun, but they were ready to leave too. They laughed at the monkeys and loved the tigers. We even found a pack of Hatcher monkeys. You never know who you'll run into at the zoo!

Spring Break #4

Today the kids had dentist appointments. I have been so lucky that my kids love the dentist. They are so good. They take very good care of their teeth. Of course, I am very thankful that they drink little to no juice and absolutely no soft drinks. I hope these healthy habits continue!

Ella has two loose teeth right now. The two on the bottom. She is very excited about the tooth fairy coming.

Spring Break #3

Today we decided to lay low. Ella had a little upset stomach. (probably from the junk food yesterday) However, we did hear the ice cream truck. I gave in and let them run out to get something. Neither one of them ate much of it at all, but they had a great time.

This evening Brian and I were invited to see KISS at the rodeo with our neighbors, the Biars. We had awesome seats and had a great time. Of course, Mom made the comment, "That doesn't sound very rodeo." No. The rodeo has definitely changed since we used to go to it. It used to just be Kenny Rogers, Alabama, The Gatlin Brothers, etc. Now, you get a mix of everything.

Spring Break #2

Daddy took off today so that we could head to the rodeo. However, the weather forecast did not look good, but we were determined to make it work. Some thought we were crazy, but by the end of the day we looked like the smartest people in town. The storm didn't come until after we were in the Reliant Center, and it stopped when we were ready to hit the carnival. That made for no lines and lots of fun!

We spent a total of 9 hours there. They did great. The long day didn't hit any of us until we got to the car.

We saw newborn piglets and petted several rabbits.

Ella loved the petting zoo. There was a baby goat that she held forever. The goat started chewing on her skirt and she thought it was hilarious. Mommy and Daddy kept telling her to stop him, but she would just laugh.

Both of the kids picked out new hats, but the little cowboy did not want a picture.

There was a butterfly garden as well. Will loved holding the butterflies.

The carnival is always a huge hit. Here they are in their new hats and sliding down the super slide. They did the slides a lot.

Ella always loves doing these. She cracks me up.

The airbrush tattoos were a huge hit. Since it was Spring Break I let them keep it an extra day. We were very careful during the bath tonight. They were very concerned.

We started our stay at home Spring Break with a bang. The Schwertners came up for a visit. We headed out to eat and play at Clay's Restaurant. Then, they spent the night. The kids absolutely LOVE having them here. They are great guests.

I picked up these cute shirts for the kids a while back. I was sure Ella wasn't going to want to wear it, but she thought they were so 'adorable'. She cracks me up. We headed to the camp fair at the mall, and they got lots of compliments. We went there so I could get more info on local camps such as art, acting, etc. However, Ella informed us there that she is ready to go to sleep away camp. Ugh. Hear that? That's me having a heart attack. She is definitely NOTHING like me as a child. We are looking into a couple of possibilities, but we'll see.

I was talking to someone about an acting camp for 2 seconds, and this is what I turned around and saw. She loved it.

Rodeo Day at School

Ella's school has a Kindergarten Rodeo as well as square dancing for all of the grades every year. Ella was so excited. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. It was a great event.

Happy Valentine's Day

This has been just an awesome few days. Last week we were stuck inside due to some very cold weather. This weekend the sun decided to come out and warm us up a lot. It's been in the low 70's and gorgeous. The kids are playing outside, and we know it won't be too long before we'll be jumping in the pool.

Brian and I had our Valentine's night out on Saturday. We went out to eat at Bistro Provence. The food was delicious. We had steamed mussels first. They were cooked perfectly with an absolutely yummy sauce. I thought Brian was going to lick the bowl. Luckily, there was fresh bread for him to use. Second, I ordered the onion soup, yum, and Brian got the special tomato soup of the night, super yum. For the main course, I ordered a goat cheese ravioli, and Brian got the lamp chop special of the evening. Everything was cooked great, and it made me miss France way too much! Small portions of fresh flavorful food. We enjoyed that we were full but not absolutely miserable like most restaurants around here. After dinner, we went and met Rachel and Justin at City Centre. They were in town visiting family, and we were so excited to see them. We went with them to get dessert at Sweet, a new cupcake place. We had cupcakes, and I also had a french macaron.. my favorite.

Will has been so ready for Valentine's Day just like Ella. He has been telling me every morning that I am his sweetheart and his best friend. He is such a little lover!

Today the kids had their parties at school. They were both so excited this morning. Ella got a Hello Kitty umbrella and a cool round puzzle. Will got a book and a Baseball Guys set. Brian and I don't tend to give gifts. But, I gave him a bag of his favorite chocolates... Toblerone. And, he surprised me during my volunteer time at school with some GORGEOUS flowers. My favorite flowers are tulips. The bouquet he got is fabulous. It also has stargazers which smell up the whole house. It got so much attention at school especially since he delivered it himself. I think I will keep him!

Daddy Daughter Dance

Ella and Brian attended the Daddy Daughter Dance through her Daisy Troop. Ella was so excited. The theme was Disney Princess. So, the outfit was pretty easy since we had some cute outfits from our Disney trip just a couple of months ago.

Super Bowl XLV

We went to the annual Super Bowl party at the Williams' house. It's so fun to see the kids as they grow up. They have so much fun together. Ella and Will came home so exhausted.

Watching TV with Daddy

Today Brian was flipping channels trying to find something to watch, but he got distracted doing something else for me. A little while later I realized it was some gold mining show that was on. I said, " Brian, can you please find something better to watch." Ella suddenly said from the chair right by the TV, "No. I like this show." I cracked up laughing, and soon I found Ella and Daddy curled up watching more episodes of Gold Prospectors on the Outdoor Channel.

Houston Cold Weather

For the past few days we have had some really cold weather. We even had a school snow yesterday as the forecast was for 1-3 inches. We got NO snow. The kids were all ready to bundle up though. They both love the cold weather gear.

Weekend in Dallas

We headed to Dallas this weekend to see Grandpa and Mamaw. Mamaw had heart surgery a couple of weeks ago, and it's taken the kids a couple of weeks to be over colds and stomach flu to be able to visit her. The weather was absolutely gorgeous while we were there. Unfortunately, I forgot to pull the camera out (I hate when I do that!) except for when we were at lunch with Rachel and Justin.

Will at Little Gym

It's been a while since Will did any extra-curricular activities. I was horrified the last time we were at Gymboree as he tackled a sweet little girl, and I decided I was then done. However, Brian has insisted that it's time again. We checked out Little Gym. Daddy was right. He loved it and did great. I think it helps that once they turn 3 the parents are not back there with them. He did do great, but they already gave him the nickname 'Wildman Will'. I guess they know him already.

His teacher's name is Coach Jeff. He gave us a hard time for the Aggie t-shirt as he graduated from Texas Tech. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wear and Aggie shirt every week!

Museum of Natural Science

After being in the house for a few days due to Ella battling a stomach bug, we needed to get out. This morning after church we decided to head to the Museum of Natural Science. The kids had a blast. Ella loved the Science show and butterflies. Will liked watching the bees in the beehive and saying really loud that all of the insects were so gross.

They have a special IMAX movie this month about pirates. We did not go as we thought it might be a little scary for the kids. Ella was willing to pose with the pirate in the lobby. Will wanted nothing to do with him.

Ella has always loved dinosaurs. So, she wanted a picture with her favorite.. The Triceratops.

If there was any game of electronic, Will just had to touch and try to figure it out.
